Every five years, Warsaw becomes the capital of piano music, and the whole world turns its attention to young, outstanding pianists from all corners of the globe. The Chopin Competition, one of the most prestigious and eagerly awaited events in classical music, will return from 2 to 23 October 2025. The Adam Mickiewicz Institute is a partner of the event.
An international jury, young talents, and Chopin’s genius – the Chopin Competition from 1927 to the present day
The Chopin Competition, whose tradition dates back to 1927, is not only a platform for discovering new talents but also a tribute to the genius of Fryderyk Chopin – an outstanding Polish composer and an icon of Romantic music. The winners of the competition gain international recognition, and their interpretations continue to inspire successive generations of musicians. Young artists will tackle Chopin’s rich repertoire – the programme will include traditional forms such as mazurkas, polonaises, études, and nocturnes, giving them an opportunity to reveal new dimensions of Chopin’s work to listeners.
The participants – winners of national competitions from around the world – will present their skills before an international jury composed of distinguished pianists, teachers, and music critics. In addition to technical perfection, they will be evaluated for their individual sensitivity, interpretative insight, and ability to convey the emotions contained in Chopin’s works.
