The representatives of the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) within the network of Institutes operating on Estonian territory will hold a meeting on the initiative of the foreign service staff of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland and the Embassy of Spain in Tallinn. The Adam Mickiewicz Institute, which promotes Polish culture abroad and cooperates with EUNIC member organisations, has been invited to participate in this event. The AMI’s delegated specialist will have the opportunity to present the mission and directions of the Institute’s current and future activities in the years 2024–2025. The purpose of the visit will also be to establish direct relations with other participants and attendees of the event as part of the networking of European arts and culture institutions.
The meeting is scheduled for 5 September 2024 at the Tallinn Botanic Garden, which also houses an exhibition entitled: “You Have to Find Your Place, Sit Down, and Wait. Joanna Concejo in search for soul in illustrations”, co-organised by the AMI. The interactive exhibition is a collection of illustrations whose leitmotif is the vitality of nature and its rich colours, which the author uses in her works with crayons and pencil. The exhibition touches the viewer not only thanks to the use of modern technology, but also because of the surrounding nature and vegetation presented in the Botanic Garden. Joanna Concejo is an ambassador of Polish contemporary art around the world, with her artistic output including illustrations for more than 20 books in various languages, including “Mr. Expressive” ("Pan Wyrazisty") by Polish Nobel Prize winner Olga Tokarczuk.
The EUNIC network brings together the cultural institutes of the European Union countries that are engaged in public and cultural diplomacy as part of their statutory activities. The EUNIC seeks to promote intercultural dialogue and diversity and to create partnerships and networks with a global reach.
