From 22 to 27 September 2025, Gdynia will once again become the capital of Polish cinema. The 50th anniversary edition of the Polish Film Festival is a landmark event that not only sums up half a century of one of Poland’s most important film festivals, but also opens a new chapter in the history of Polish cinema. The Adam Mickiewicz Institute is a partner of the Festival.

50th FPFF in Gdynia – a Jubilee Celebration of Polish Cinema on the Baltic Sea

Organised continuously since 1974, the Festival presents the latest Polish productions every year. Once again, audiences will have the opportunity to see the most exciting Polish films: premieres, debuts, and works recognised at international festivals. Sixteen films have been selected for the Main Competition of the 50th FPFF in Gdynia. The winners of the Golden and Silver Lions, along with individual awards and special mentions from partners and industry institutions, will be announced on the final day of the Festival during the gala ceremony.

The programme of the 50th FPFF features three competition sections – the Main Competition, the Short Film Competition and the “Perspectives” Competition – alongside numerous out-of-competition strands and accompanying events. Among the festival’s regular highlights are: “Polonica” – screenings of international productions involving Polish artists – and the ever-popular “Gdynia for Children” section, offering a rich educational programme. The Festival is more than just screenings – it is also a platform for discussions, industry debates, workshops, and meetings open to both residents and visitors.

As part of the accompanying programme, the Adam Mickiewicz Institute will host a networking meeting for film industry representatives from Poland and abroad. For many years, it has pursued its mission of fostering lasting interest in Polish culture and art while strengthening the presence of Polish artists on the global stage. The Polish Film Festival in Gdynia is one of the oldest film events in Europe to promote national cinema on such a large scale.

All events of the 50th FPFF will take place in Gdynia, with screenings planned at the Danuta Baduszkowa Musical Theatre, the Gdynia Film Centre, the Helios Cinema (CH Riviera), and the Consulate of Culture. The Adam Mickiewicz Institute cordially invites audiences to screenings of two of its co-productions:
