Open Call for Vocal Masterclasses with Tomasz Konieczny
The Adam Mickiewicz Institute and the Ludwig van Beethoven Association invite applications for vocal masterclasses led by bass-baritone Tomasz Konieczny.
"Masterclasses at Elżbieta and Krzysztof Penderecki's Salon in Kraków" is a five-day vocal programme featuring Tomasz Konieczny, Piotr Jaworski, and Anton Ziegler. The masterclasses will take place at the home of Elżbieta and Krzysztof Penderecki in Kraków from 9 to 14 August 2026. The programme will conclude with a concert on 14 August 2026.
Six participants – students or graduates of vocal departments at European arts universities – will be selected through an open call.

Required application materials
Applicants are asked to submit:
- links to two recordings hosted on cloud storage or external platforms: one work in Polish and one work in German;
- a biography of no more than half a page, together with a photograph;

Who can participate?
The masterclasses are open to individuals who have turned 18 and who are students or graduates of vocal departments at European arts universities.
Selection process
- Applications must be submitted individually.
- The selection process consists of a single stage. Participants will be selected by the project's curator, Tomasz Konieczny, based on the artistic merit of the submitted applications.
- The curator's decision is final and cannot be appealed.
- The Adam Mickiewicz Institute reserves the right to cancel the open call without providing a reason.
Results
All applicants will be informed of the results by email no later than 17 July 2026.
Selected participants will be required to confirm their participation within three days of receiving notification. Failure to respond within this period will be considered a withdrawal from the programme.
A detailed schedule of the masterclasses will be provided to the selected participants.
Organisational information
The Adam Mickiewicz Institute reserves the right to publish the names of the selected participants, together with selected information about their artistic activities, and to use this information for communication and promotional purposes related to the open call and the project, in accordance with the Institute's statutory activities.
The Adam Mickiewicz Institute does not cover the costs of participation, travel, accommodation, or meals.

Applicants' personal data are processed on the basis of Article 6(1)(e) and (f) GDPR for the purposes of: administering the Open Call; selecting successful applicants; fulfilling statutory obligations relating to access to public information where required by applicable law.

Personal data will be processed until the completion of the Open Call and the Masterclasses.

Following completion of the above purposes, personal data will be retained for archival purposes for the period required under the Polish Act of 14 July 1983 on the National Archival Resources and Archives and the internal archival regulations applicable to the Adam Mickiewicz Institute.

Recipients of personal data may include: providers of IT systems and software supporting the activities of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute; external service providers acting on behalf of the Institute; public authorities and other entities authorised to obtain personal data under applicable law.

Personal data will not be transferred to third countries or international organisations.

Data subjects have the rights provided for under Articles 15 and 16 GDPR, including the right to access and rectify their personal data, as well as, where applicable, the rights set out in Articles 17 and 18 GDPR, including the right to erasure and restriction of processing.

Final Provisions
- In matters not covered by these rules, the relevant provisions of Polish law shall apply.
- These rules may be amended; in such cases, the amendments will be published in the same manner as the original rules, and will also be sent to participants who registered before the date on which the amendments came into effect.
