The most exciting figures of contemporary Polish photography will be showcased at Paris Photo, one of the world’s most important events dedicated to artistic photography. From 13 to 16 November, works by Joanna Rajkowska, Diana Lelonek, Zuzanna Janin, Weronika Gęsicka, Aneta Grzeszykowska, Marta Zgierska, Maria Michałowska, Wojciech Plewiński, and Zofia Rydet among others will be presented at the Grand Palais in Paris. The Polish presentation, prepared in cooperation with the galleries Jednostka, lokal_30, Raster, and Monopol, as well as the publishing house BLOW UP PRESS, is supported by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute. The programme also includes photo book premieres and meetings with artists, offering a broad overview of contemporary Polish photography.

Polish Artists at Paris Photo 2025 – Contemporary Photography in Paris

– It is extremely important for us that this year’s edition of Paris Photo 2025 features such a strong representation of Polish artists. International institutions and audiences are showing growing interest in Polish photography every year, as evidenced by, among others, Zofia Rydet’s exhibition at The Photographers’ Gallery in London and the presentation of her works alongside those of Anna Beata Bohdziewicz, Teresa Gierzyńska, and Aneta Grzeszykowska at Northern Ireland’s leading photography gallery, Belfast Exposed. Photography has a unique power – it allows us to document current events while restoring the memory of what has passed. At Paris Photo 2025, we can admire both the works of young artists and those of the older generation, whose art continues to inspire and prove how timeless and universal photography can be –– says Olga Wysocka, Director of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute.

Since 1997, Paris Photo has stood as one of the world’s foremost fairs devoted to art photography, bringing together leading galleries, artists, collectors, curators, and publishers from more than thirty countries. Each November, the event transforms the monumental Grand Palais in Paris into an international stage for photographic art – from timeless classics to the most daring digital experiments. The fair features several thematic sectors –– Main, Prismes, Emergence, Book, Digital, and Voices –– and is complemented by artist talks, book signings, and a wide range of accompanying events.

Collaboration Between Polish Galleries and Publishers at France’s Premier Photography Event

Thanks to the cooperation between the Adam Mickiewicz Institute and the galleries Jednostka, lokal_30, Raster, and Monopol, as well as the publishing house BLOW UP PRESS, this year’s edition will feature an exceptionally strong representation of Polish artists. It offers a unique opportunity to showcase the diversity and richness of contemporary Polish photography in an international context.

Jednostka will present at the fair a selection of photographs by Wojciech Plewiński, taken during his travels in Italy and France, alongside his works documenting the so-called Western Territories, as well as the Votive Figure series by Marta Zgierska. The booth will also host a meeting with Weronika Gęsicka, who will be signing a special edition of her award-winning book Encyclopaedia

For this publication, Gęsicka was nominated for one of the most prestigious awards in the world – the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize, organized in collaboration with The Photographers’ Gallery in London, which will culminate in an exhibition opening in March 2026.

Gallery lokal_30 will showcase works by Zuzanna Janin, who experiments with laminated photography; Joanna Rajkowska, who creates collages commenting on the global crisis and the erosion of the hierarchy of values; and Diana Lelonek, who employs the technique of cyanotype and long-exposure photography to capture the vanishing image of Alpine glaciers.

Raster will introduce international audiences to works by Polish photography classics Zofia Rydet and Krzysztof Pruszkowski, alongside mid-generation artists Aneta Grzeszykowska, Jan Smaga, Michał Łuczak, and Łukasz Rusznica, complemented by photographs of Japanese artist Kazuhito Tanaka.

Monopol Gallery, as part of the Paysages exhibition in the Voices section, will present works by Maria Michałowska, one of the pioneers of conceptual art in Poland.

BLOW UP PRESS will be the first Polish publishing house present at Paris Photo, showcasing special and premiere editions of photo books by Weronika Gęsicka, Hubert Humka, Nastasia Leliuk, Natalia Wiernik, Małgorzata Stankiewicz, and Paweł Żak, illustrating the wide spectrum of contemporary Polish photography. Additionally, on 6 November at 6:00 p.m., as part of the PhotoSaintGermain festival, the publisher will open Małgorzata Stankiewicz’s exhibition viridescent, afire at Librairie Polonaise.
