Polish ensembles and artists in Romania: concerts, theatre, visual arts, and design as part of the Poland–Romania Cultural Season 2024–2025
Szymon Nehring’s concert with Cristian Mandeal and the Orchestra Națională Radio is part of the Poland–Romania Cultural Season 2024–2025, a unique initiative aimed at deepening cultural cooperation between the two countries. The Season programme, which runs from June 2024 to November 2025, is jointly implemented by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, with support from the Polish Institute in Bucharest, as well as the Romanian Ministry of Culture and the Romanian Cultural Institute.
A wide variety of artistic events are presented under the common slogan: “We Share a Common Language”. The programme includes concerts by Polish artists, such as a performance by the string quintet Vołosi on the occasion of Polish-Romanian Solidarity Day, and concerts by Polish bands at the George Enescu Festival and Jazz in the Park 2025. Theatre arts were represented by performances as part of the News from Polska Festival, National Theatre Festival and International Theatre Festival in Sibiu. In the field of visual arts, an exhibition of photographs by Justyna Mielnikiewicz was presented in Suceava, while Polish design was showcased during the Romanian Design Week in Bucharest. Polish authors also took part in the International Festival of Literature and Translation in Iași. Music plays a special role in the Poland–Romania Cultural Season 2024–2025 – it is a universal language that connects artists and audiences from both countries, building bridges of understanding and empathy. Joint concerts and musical encounters not only highlight the richness of Polish and Romanian traditions, but also demonstrate that harmony and dialogue are possible wherever the voice of art resonates across borders.
