On 14 November 2024, the foreign edition of the Unsound Festival will commence, with its main event traditionally held in Krakow. This year’s festival programme combines classical music, electronic music, and metal. Two of the numerous concerts in New York are being organised in collaboration with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute.
“Białowieża” and “Rogiński Plays Coltrane & Langston Hughes” – Two Concerts by Polish Artists at the Unsound Festival in New York.
Two musical projects by Polish artists will be showcased during the New York edition of the Unsound Festival.
“Białowieża” is a project by Izabela Dłużyk and Chris Watson. In New York, it will be performed on 16 and 17 November 2024 at Pioneer Works. This project brings together two fascinating figures from the world of nature sound recordings: Izabela Dłużyk, a blind Polish sound artist, and Chris Watson, one of the most renowned creators in the field and a longtime collaborator of David Attenborough. Their joint composition is based on field recordings made in the Białowieża Forest, the last remaining primeval forest in Europe.
Raphael Rogiński, a Polish guitarist, will present his album “Rogiński Plays Coltrane & Langston Hughes” together with drummer Jim White and vocalist Amirtha Kidambi. The concert will take place on 16 November 2024, at Lincoln Center. The audience will experience expressive and nuanced interpretations of John Coltrane’s compositions, alongside original pieces by Rogiński inspired by the work of Langston Hughes, the American poet and social activist. Originally released in 2015, the album “Rogiński Plays Coltrane & Langston Hughes” is set to be reissued soon by Unsound.
Unsound Festival – A Polish Brand on the International Music Scene

Unsound focuses on a broad spectrum of contemporary music, showcasing sounds that defy genre boundaries – new, experimental, and unconventional. The festival is renowned as a platform that nurtures emerging music scenes and explores radical approaches to sound.
The festival takes place between 14 and 18 November 2024. The concerts “Białowieża” and “Rogiński Plays Coltrane & Langston Hughes” are organised in collaboration with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute.
