hereby invite applications for participation in the "Masterclasses at the Penderecki Salon in Kraków", featuring distinguished bass-baritone Tomasz Konieczny

Objectives 

The purpose of this Open Call is to select six vocal students enrolled at higher music education institutions in Poland and other European Union Member States to participate in a five-day vocal masterclass led by Tomasz Konieczny, Piotr Jaworski and Anton Ziegler

The Masterclasses will take place at the Penderecki Villa in Kraków from 9 to 14 August 2026, concluding with a public concert on 14 August 2026

The Adam Mickiewicz Institute does not cover participants' tuition fees, travel expenses, accommodation or subsistence costs. 

Eligibility 

Applicants must: 

  • be at least 18 years of age;  
  • be enrolled as students at the vocal department of a European higher education institution specialising in music.  

Application Procedure 

  1. Applications must be submitted individually.  
  1. The selection procedure consists of a single stage.  
  1. The Adam Mickiewicz Institute reserves the right to cancel the Open Call at any time without providing reasons. 

How to Apply 

Applicants are requested to submit the following: 

  • links to two video recordings, one performed in Polish and one in German, uploaded to external cloud storage or online platforms;  
  • a biography of no more than half a page together with a recent photograph.

Applications received after the deadline will not be considered. 

Selection of Participants 

  1. The Artistic Curator of the project is Tomasz Konieczny, who will select the participants.  
  1. Applicants will be assessed exclusively on the artistic merit of the submitted materials.  
  1. The Curator's decision is final and is not subject to appeal. 

Information for Applicants 

  1. All applicants will be informed of the results of the Open Call by email no later than 17 July 2026.  
  1. Successful applicants must confirm their participation within three days of receiving notification of their selection. Failure to respond within this period will be regarded as withdrawal from participation.  
  1. The detailed timetable of the Masterclasses will be provided exclusively to the selected participants.  
  1. The Adam Mickiewicz Institute reserves the right to publish the names and selected information concerning the artistic activities of the successful applicants and to use such information for promotional purposes related to the Open Call and the project, in accordance with the Institute's statutory activities.

  • selecting successful applicants;  
  • fulfilling statutory obligations relating to access to public information where required by applicable law.  

d) Personal data will be processed until the completion of the Open Call and the Masterclasses. 

e) Following completion of the above purposes, personal data will be retained for archival purposes for the period required under the Polish Act of 14 July 1983 on the National Archival Resources and Archives and the internal archival regulations applicable to the Adam Mickiewicz Institute. 

f) Recipients of personal data may include: 

  • providers of IT systems and software supporting the activities of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute;  
  • external service providers acting on behalf of the Institute;  
  • public authorities and other entities authorised to obtain personal data under applicable law.  

g) Personal data will not be transferred to third countries or international organisations. 

h) Data subjects have the rights provided for under Articles 15 and 16 GDPR, including the right to access and rectify their personal data, as well as, where applicable, the rights set out in Articles 17 and 18 GDPR, including the right to erasure and restriction of processing. 

i) Personal data will not be processed by automated means, including profiling, in a manner producing legal effects concerning the data subject or similarly significantly affecting them.
