A unique concert by Mitch & Mitch with Japanese artist Takeo Toyama will take place on 21 September 2025 at 6:30 pm at the Jassmine Club in Warsaw. This collaboration is the outcome of Takeo Toyama’s residency in Poland. The Japanese composer is associated with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute’s cultural programme accompanying the EXPO 2025 World Exhibition.
Mitch & Mitch and Takeo Toyama: a musical meeting in Warsaw
Mitch & Mitch is a musical collective that, since its founding in 2002, has consistently expanded the boundaries of sound, blending styles ranging from country & western and electronic music to jazz and film scores. Thirty-four years after the release of Frisco Moods, their Brazilian adventure with Kassin and their acclaimed collaboration with Zbigniew Wodecki, the band turned to the music of Ennio Morricone – specifically his vibrant easy listening/bossa nova period of 1969–1971. The result was the Fryderyk Award-winning album Amore Assoluto Per Ennio (Best Indie Pop Album), a repertoire full of subtle harmonies and unexpected rhythmic twists.
At their concert in Warsaw, Mitch & Mitch will once again cross artistic boundaries – this time inviting Japanese composer Takeo Toyama to reinterpret works from the world of Ennio Morricone. Toyama is known for creating unpredictable compositions that move between lyrical minimalism, lo-fi maximalism, abstract electronics, and chamber music experiments. His music blends delicate piano passages with distorted percussion, all spiced with humour and… the occasional meowing kitten.

Polish artists in duet with Japan – concert in Osaka as part of the Polish culture promotion programme during EXPO 2025
The Warsaw collaboration will continue in Japan. On 4 and 5 October 2025, the musicians will perform in Osaka as part of the Polish–Japanese Sound Culture Festival. The event will make an opportunity to establish a musical dialogue between Poland and Japan, as well as to present unconventional, innovative, and energetic side of Polish musical scene. A series of concerts presenting alternative and jazz music will take place in the bustling Namba Square.
The programme promoting Polish culture in Japan during the EXPO 2025 World Exhibition in Osaka, organised by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute under the slogan Po!land ポ!ランド and financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, forms part of Poland’s participation in EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai, coordinated by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency under the slogan “Heritage that drives the future”.
