Sezon Francja–Polska 2027 / Saison Pologne–France 2027

Beginning in the second half of February 2027, the Sezon Francja–Polska 2027 / Saison Pologne–France 2027 will open a new chapter in cultural cooperation between the two countries. For the first time, a joint programme of events will take place simultaneously in Poland and France, creating a space for dialogue, cooperation and encounters between artists, cultural professionals and audiences.

The initiative is part of the deepening of Franco-Polish relations following the signing of the Treaty of Nancy (9 May 2025) and its entry into force (22 January 2026). The Season underlines a shared commitment to building a strong, united and resilient Europe, founded on fundamental freedoms, social cohesion and the role of culture as a unifying force.

In response to contemporary challenges such as social polarisation and the fragmentation of public debate, the Season’s programme focuses on creating spaces for genuine encounters and shared experiences. Through culture, it promotes dialogue, participation and reflection, strengthening citizens’ sense of community and agency.

Younger generations, whose perspectives and creativity are key to the future of Europe, will have a special place in the programme. At the same time, the Season aims to develop lasting relationships between artists, cultural institutions and creative communities in both countries, fostering long-term cooperation and co-creation.

The programme will be organised around four thematic areas:

Democratic Imagination and a New Solidarity

The Season aims to show how culture contributes to strengthening democracy, raises the quality of public debate, supports pluralism and encourages dialogue between generations and different sensibilities. Particular attention will be paid to the role of the younger generation in renewing forms of cultural participation, in civic engagement and in co-creating an inclusive, accessible and solidarity-based cultural offer.

Europe as a Shared Space

The Season will be an invitation to reflect on Europe in all its diversity – through the lens of multiple identities, relations between centre and periphery, borders, heritage and contemporary change. It will also highlight how culture helps us to think about European community, resilience, democratic security and social cohesion in a world marked by uncertainty and geopolitical change.

Agency in the Age of Algorithms

In the face of the transformations brought about by artificial intelligence and the growing influence of digital technologies, the Season will seek to place people, relationships, creativity and critical thinking back at the centre of reflection. Without rejecting innovation or technological progress, it will focus on examining the effects of disinformation, the mechanisms of digital platforms, the ethical and artistic challenges posed by new technologies, and the conditions for preserving freedom of choice and developing creativity – especially among young audiences.

Poland and France: Shared Heritage, Dialogue of Perspectives, Shared Future

The Season will create a space to take a fresh look at Polish-French relations, and to deepen and renew them through a shared intellectual, artistic and humanist heritage. It will make it possible both to discover common references, cultural exchanges and affinities, and to reflect on differences in perception, stereotypes and tensions that may have shaped this relationship. By bringing together heritage and contemporary creation, the Season will seek to bring the artists, creators, thinkers, institutions and societies of both countries closer together.

Events will take place in large cities as well as in smaller towns and regions of both countries, with the involvement of local authorities, partner cities, cultural institutions and civil society organisations. By combining heritage with contemporary creation, and local initiatives with international cooperation, the Season aims to strengthen cultural ties and build lasting networks of cooperation for the future.

The Sezon Francja–Polska 2027 is more than a cultural programme – it is a platform for cooperation, dialogue and joint action, showing how culture can help build a stronger, more cohesive and more resilient Europe.

The Sezon Francja–Polska 2027 / Saison Pologne–France 2027 is jointly organised by the Institut français, the Adam Mickiewicz Institute and the Polish Institute in Paris. The Season is made possible thanks to the support of the French Ministry of Culture, the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland.
