The Year of Polish Romanticism – Competition Terms and Conditions
§ 1. General Provisions
The Competition organiser and the founder of the prizes shall be the Adam Mickiewicz Institute with its registered office in Warsaw, at Mokotowska 25, a state cultural institution conducting its activities on a basis of an entry in the Register of Cultural Institutions kept by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage with the number RIK 70/2006, hereinafter referred to as “the Organiser.” The Competition shall be held between 28 December 2022 and 11 January 2023. Information regarding the Competition, terms and conditions of the participation, and prizes shall be published on 28 December 2022 on the internet portal www.iam.pl, and on the Culture.pl and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute Facebook fan pages. During the Competition, the Participants shall answer one question regarding Polish culture. The maximum of five prize winners shall be announced. The list of the winners shall be announced to the public after the end of the Competition, i.e., no later than on 18 January 2023.
§ 2. Eligibility Rules for the Competition
The participation in the Competition is free of charge. Any natural person who is of age, has full legal capacity and meets all the criteria specified in these Terms and Conditions may participate in the Competition. Under-age persons may participate in the Competition upon the consent of their parents or legal guardians. Employees and/or collaborators of the Organiser, their spouses, children, parents, and siblings may not enter the Competition. Upon entering the Competition, the participant accepts these Terms and Conditions without any reservations. The participant undertakes to comply with the rules set forth herein and states that they meet all eligibility criteria for participation in the Competition. The participation in the Competition, as well as the related rights and obligations, including but not limited to the right to be awarded the prize, shall not be transferrable to any third party.
§ 3. The Competition procedure; terms and conditions of participation
The Competition shall be announced on Facebook fan pages (www.facebook.com) of the Culture.pl and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute on 28 December 2022. The Competition participants shall send to the Organiser an answer to the question about Polish culture asked in the competition, which shall be published on the Culture.pl and IAM Facebook fan pages on 28 December 2022. The answers should be sent via e-mail, in accordance with the provisions of § 4 of these Terms and Conditions. The list of winners shall be announced on the Culture.pl and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute Facebook fan pages and on the www.iam.pl website no later than on 18 January 2023.
Sending the answer to the Competition question as specified above shall be understood as entering the Competition. Upon entering the Competition, the participant agrees for their personal data to be processed by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute for the purposes of conducting the Competition.
The electronic correspondence provided for in this paragraph of these Terms and Conditions should include the following data: the participant’s first name and last name; the participant’s telephone number.
§ 4. Rules for selecting the winners
The Competition winners shall be the first five persons who send the correct answer to the question asked in the Competition. No more than five prizes shall be awarded. The answers shall be submitted to the following address: [email protected], with “Romantic” in the message subject line.
§ 5. Prizes
Each of the winners shall be awarded an "IAMROMANTIC" T-shirt, a bag and a notebook (“The Prize”). The Prizes shall be sent by post or a courier service within 30 (thirty) days of the date of announcing the Competition results, to the address specified by the winners. The winners shall not be entitled to receive the prize if they fail to meet any of the criteria set forth in §§ 2, 3 and 4 of these Terms and Conditions; in particular, if they fail to provide details allowing for the execution of their right to the prize, in the manner and within the deadline set forth in §3. In such case, the prize shall remain at the Organiser’s disposal. The Organiser shall not be held liable for any irregularities regarding any delays or a failure to notify the winner that they won the Competition if the data or the address provided by the participant, to which the notification about winning the Competition has been sent, prove to be incorrect. The Organiser shall not be held liable for factually incorrect contact data, the address of residence, or other identification data provided by the winning participant, as well as for any changes in the data that the Organiser has not been notified of. When the prize is collected in person, the winner shall present an ID with a photo, in order to confirm their identity. Should any legal obligation arise under the public law in connection with handing over the Prize, the Adam Mickiewicz Institute shall fulfil the said obligation on their own account.
§ 6. Complaint proceedings
All complaints arising in connection with the Competition shall be submitted in writing along with relevant grounds to the Organiser’s address: Instytut Adama Mickiewicza, ul. Mokotowska 25 00-560, Warszawa, with an annotation "Romantic", or to the following e-mail address: [email protected].
Complaints regarding the course of the Competition shall be lodged in the period from the date of announcing the Competition to the 14th day following the date of the Competition closing. Complaints regarding the quality of the prizes shall be lodged within 30 days of the date of receiving the prizes, to the addresses listed above. Complaints shall be handled by the Organiser within 30 (thirty) days of their lodging. The response to the complaint shall be sent to the address indicated in the submitted complaint document or to an email address from which the complaint was sent.
§ 7. Personal data protection
Pursuant to Article 13 of the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (Journal of Laws of EU L 119/1 of May 4, 2016), hereinafter referred to as the GDPR, IAM hereby informs as follows:
Instytut Adama Mickiewicza (IAM) with its registered office at Mokotowska 25, Warsaw (postal code: 00-560) shall be the controller of your personal data;

your data shall be processed:
to award and settle the Competition prize and announce the names of the Competition winners pursuant to Article 6.1.b. of the GDPR;
to participate in the Competition – pursuant to Article 6.1.f of the GDPR (a legally justified interest of IAM for the purpose of promoting and marketing IAM activities)
your personal data shall be retained throughout the Competition term and settlement period; and during the obligatory period for records retaining by IAM, established in accordance with separate provisions,
recipients of your personal data shall be entities cooperating with IAM on the organisation of the Competition; IAM providers of IT systems and software services; and entities authorised to obtain personal data in accordance with relevant legal provisions (including public administration bodies);
you have the right to access your personal data; the right to edit, delete, and limit their processing; the right to transfer personal data; and the right to appeal against their processing in cases provided for in GDPR;
you have the right to appeal to the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, should you decide that the processing of your personal data has violated the GDPR provisions.
§ 8. Miscellaneous
To all issues not governed by these Terms and Conditions, relevant provisions of the Civil Code shall apply.
The Organiser reserves the right to modify the provisions of these Terms and Conditions at any time for important reasons, as well as to terminate or cancel the competition, and the relevant information shall be provided immediately on the Organiser's website.
