The 13th edition of Poland Film Festival – a review of Polish cinema in Japan – begins on 22 November. This year’s edition will focus on films by Jan Komasa, but the viewers in Tokyo will have a chance to watch other contemporary Polish productions too. The Adam Mickiewicz Institute has co-organised Poland Film Festival since 2012.

“Suicide Room”, “Corpus Christi”, “City 44” and other movies at the film festival in Tokyo

The programme of this year’s Poland Film Festival will concentrate on the works by Jan Komasa, supplemented by screenings of other recognised contemporary Polish movies.

The review will feature the following films:

13th edition of Poland Film Festival in Japan

Poland Film Festival was first organised in 2012. It was initiated by Nobuo Murata, founder of Mermaid Films – Japanese film distributor specialised in European cinema. 

For 12 years of collaboration between the Adam Mickiewicz Institute and Mermaid Films Japanese viewers have had a chance to watch the greatest classics of Polish cinema by such directors as Krzysztof Kieślowski or Jerzy Skolimowski, or recently, films featuring the score by Wojciech Kilar. The programme of the film review is always complemented by the most famous contemporary productions. Poland Film Festival has enjoyed great interest among the public for many years now.

Poland Film Festival takes place between 18 and 28 November 2024. The Adam Mickiewicz Institute is a co-organiser of the review together with Mermaid Films.
