On 8 December 2024, the 6th edition of the Eufonie Festival will conclude. This year’s programme features 23 concerts reflecting on the past and anticipating the future. The Adam Mickiewicz Institute, a partner of the event, has been supporting it for four years.

“Echoes and Reverberations” is the theme of this year’s Eufonie Festival.

“Echoes and Reverberations” is this year’s theme of the Eufonie Festival. The festival focused on reflecting on the past and anticipating what is yet to come. This year’s programme featured 23 concerts, expanding beyond Warsaw for the first time to include performances in Dębica, Lublin, Lusławice, Katowice, and Kraków. A notable addition to the festival was the inclusion of staged opera presentations, including the premiere of Krzysztof Penderecki’s “Black Mask” at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera.

The repertoire was organised into three interconnecting sections:

  • (Skalpel, Dobrawa Czocher & Guests, Gurdjieff Ensemble, Operomania, La Tempête),
  • Great Works (compositions by Krzysztof Penderecki, Paweł Mykietyn, Karol Szymanowski),
  • Music of the Past (The Sixteen, Bastarda, “Venceslao rè di Polonia” by Antonio Caldara performed by {oh!} Orchestra and soloists, including Max Emanuel Cenčić).

The first concert of the festival took place in Kraków, the hometown of Krzysztof Penderecki, whose piece “Seven Gates of Jerusalem” inaugurated this year’s edition. The audience will have another opportunity to hear “Seven Gates of Jerusalem” during the closing concert of Eufonie Festival on 8 December 2024 in Dębica.
