On November 26th, Eric Lu, XVII International Chopin Piano Competition finalist and prof. Wojciech Świtała, International Chopin Piano Competition jury member, performed at the Beijing Philharmonic. The concert organized by Culture.pl, the Adam Mickiewicz Institute's flagship brand, and the Polish Institute in Beijing, was attended by President of Poland, Andrzej Duda.
The International Chopin Piano Competition is tremendously popular, the Chinese media follow the competition very closely. During the concert at the Beijing Philharmonic, Chinese music lovers had the opportunity to hear a recital by an Chinese-born American Eric Lu, who finished fourth in this year's competition, and the pianist Wojciech Świtała, jury member of the XVII International Chopin Piano Competition.
The concert at the Beijing Philharmonic with President Andrzej Duda in attendance, emphasized the relationship between Chopin and the International Chopin Piano Competition and Poland. The Polish President also took part in a ceremonial presentation of a bust of Frederic Chopin to the Beijing Philharmonic. The concert was the closing event of President Duda's first official visit to China.
