"Identity Crisis Network" - an international research project on identity in art

From 19 November to 5 December 2024, a series of online webinars in English titled “Identity Crisis Network" will take place. The three-week event, featuring discussions, will center on the broad themes of identity and subjectivity within the cultural sphere. The series will conclude with a conference in Zagreb in 2025. The events were organised by members of the curatorial team from Croatia, Poland, Belarus and Serbia in cooperation with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute as part of the Polish cultural program of the Polish Presidency of the EU Council 2025.

“Identity Crisis” - a series of webinars for representatives of the cultural sector in Central and Eastern Europe

“Identity Crisis Network” is an artistic research-based project created through collaboration between the Croatian curatorial collective KUCCA, curators Vera Zalutska and Michalina Sablik, and researcher Luka Cvetkovic. The project connects artistic practices and discourses that challenge established notions of identity and subjectivity. Through a series of seminars, conferences, and meetings between artists, curators, and theoreticians the project is an entry point into conceiving new perspectives in art that act beyond determined frameworks.

The first part of the “Identity Crisis Network” consists of a series of six webinars in the form of online debates, focusing on the concept of identity through the lenses of technology, feminism, queer theory, decolonialism, politics, and philosophy. The sessions will be led by theorists, artists, and curators from countries that joined the European Union after 2004, as well as representatives from pre-accession countries, from Poland, Kazakhstan, Serbia, USA, Germany and UK/Belgium. The webinars will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Participants are required to register in advance, and a detailed description, schedule of events, and registration form are available at identitycrisisnetwork.com.
