From 13 to 17 August 2025, South Korea will host the Jeonju International Sori Festival. This year’s edition, themed ‘Echoes from the Homeland’, will once again combine traditional Korean music with world music, presenting contemporary reinterpretations of cultural heritage through concerts, workshops and international performances. The programme also features Polish folk song workshops for children, led by the Polish female vocal quartet ‘Kosy’.

Jeonju International Sori Festival – an international music festival in South Korea

The Jeonju International Sori Festival is one of the most important music events in Asia, organised continuously for over 20 years. The festival focuses on traditional genres, in particular pansori, sanjo, jungga, folk instruments and Korean fusion music. The programme includes numerous concerts, workshops combining tradition and modernity, international artistic projects, and educational and family activities, providing a platform for intercultural dialogue.

During the 2025 edition, the Kosy quartet will lead unique workshops for children, during which participants will get to know Polish folk songs from different regions of the country, including southern Silesia. The classes will be accompanied by violins, violas, Indian harmoniums, frame drums and other percussion instruments. Children will learn melodies, harmonies and the meanings of songs, gaining a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in another culture by making music together.
