Kinga Głyk's concert tour

Kinga Głyk's tour is underway to promote her latest album ‘Real Life’, which was released on 26 January 2024. The bass player embarked on a world tour on 7 March and has since visited countries such as Norway, the UK, Germany, Italy, Brazil and Argentina, among others.

‘Real Life’ – an instrumental album

The album ‘Real Life’ was released in January 2024 by Warner Music Group with the support of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute. Kinga Głyk, who specialises in jazz and blues music, is considered the best Polish bass player of the young generation. The composer made her debut in 2015 with the album ‘Registration’. In turn, her first studio album ‘Dream’ was released in 2017. The artist has already given many concerts not only in Poland, but also abroad, including Indonesia, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Portugal, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Ukraine.

On her latest album, Kinga Głyk turns to instrumental music, drawing inspiration from jazz and funk. What distinguishes her compositions is the original arrangement and aesthetics. In the recordings, she was accompanied by acclaimed jazz musicians: Casey Benjamin on saxophones, Robert ‘Sput’ Searight on drums and Brett Williams on keyboards.

This is how the bass player describes the process of compiling the album in an interview with Culture.pl:

‘I spent most of the time on the production of this album with the producer, Michael League (the leader of the band Snarky Puppy). Before we started working on the album, we had a lengthy conversation about getting attached to our own song ideas. It is a known fact that artists are attached to their tunes and may perceive a suggestion as causing harm and a lack of appreciation. It's my story and someone wants to change it, to violate the essence of the piece. You have to be able to let go and be ready for changes. If my idea is the best, I won't be the only one to hear it.’
