Global Public Diplomacy Network (GPDNET) is an association of medium-sized cultural institutions from around the world.
The concept for the creation a platform of cooperation was initiated by the Korea Foundation. In June 2014, the foundation organized a Work Group Meeting in Korea, in which representatives of public diplomacy institutions from Australia, Canada, Denmark, Holland, Hungary, Indonesia, Korea, Nigeria, Poland, Singapore and Taiwan participated. Poland was represented by the AMI Director Paweł Potoroczyn. The goal of the first meeting was to discuss the most effective ways of communication and synergy between institutions taking part in the project.
The Inaugural Assembly of the GPDNET took place from October 23rd to 25th, 2014 in Seoul. All member institutions signed a Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding. The Adam Mickiewicz Institute was represented by Director Paweł Potoroczyn and Marcin Jacoby PhD and Ewa Paszkowicz from the Asia Project. The AMI will be partnering with the following instutitions within the GPDNET: the Korea Foundation, Balassi Institute (Hungary), Camoes Institute (Portugal), National Commission for Culture and the Arts (Philippines), National Institute for Cultural Orientation (Nigeria), Singapore International Foundation, Swedish Institute and Yunus Emre Institute (Turkey). The British Council, Goethe Institute, French Institute, Cervantes Institute, Japan Foundation, Chiang Ching-Kuo Foundation (Taiwan) and Czech Centers will hold the status of observers.
The GPDNET is the first global cultural institution network, which will be an important platform for cooperation, project development worldwide and the exchange of experience.
