The exhibition “The Clothed Home: Tuning in to the Seasonal Imagination” will be open for viewing starting 11 October 2024, at the Copernicus Science Centre. The exhibition is part of the Przemiany Festival, which explores ideas and solutions aimed at ensuring the future of our planet. “The Clothed Home” was first showcased at the London Design Biennale in 2021 and has since graced numerous exhibition spaces, including Krakow, Ljubljana, Lisbon, and Vilnius.
Przemiany Festival at the Copernicus Science Centre
The Przemiany Festival is a three-day event (11–13 October 2024) organised by the Copernicus Science Centre. Its main theme revolves around building the future using materials provided by nature or created through scientific advancements.
In the quest for solutions to protect the planet’s future, a rich programme of events has been prepared, including exhibitions, experimental stations, meetings with artists and scientists, discussions, performances, a selection of films, DJ sets, and a pop-up café featuring a festival menu and workshops. Admission to all events is free.
“The Clothed Home: Tuning in to the Seasonal Imagination” – textile exhibition at the Copernicus Science Centre
“The Clothed Home: Tuning in to the Seasonal Imagination” will be one of the exhibitions showcased during the Przemiany Festival at the Copernicus Science Centre. The exhibition first premiered at the 2021 London Design Biennale in the Polish Pavilion, organised by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute. Since then, “The Clothed Home” has been featured in various exhibition spaces, including the Design Biennale in Ljubljana, the Architecture Triennial in Lisbon, the National Museum in Krakow, and the Arka Gallery in Vilnius.
“The Clothed Home” draws on the traditions of Polish textile design from before the age of electricity to evoke how our ancestors’ homes were “clothed.” The creators of hand-woven kilims, tapestries, ceiling quilts, carpets, and other textiles used for interior design recreate these pieces by utilising the meanings and temperatures of colours. They highlight the rhythm once dictated by the changing seasons. The visualisation of these “clothed” rooms by Alicja Bielawska, an artist known for her spatial works using fabrics, encourages us to reconnect with cyclical nature and reflect on its relevance in contemporary life.
The concept and design of the exhibition were developed by Małgorzata Kuciewicz and Simone De Iacobis from the Centrala group, a Warsaw-based architectural and research studio focused on reinterpretations and spatial interventions aimed at renewing the language of architecture. The exhibition’s visual identity was designed by Anna Kulachek, while the graphic design was created by Piotr Chuchla.

The exhibition will be open from 11 to 13 October 2024. The Adam Mickiewicz Institute recommends the visit – admission is free!
