Polish psychedelic post-punk in the US
The new album “Mourners” presents the new face of Trupa Trupa through combining what’s best from the band’s past with their new history. It contains five pieces produced by one of the leading music producers in the world, Nick Launay. The recordings have preserved the intensity of the band’s live performances. The artists’ assumption behind “Mourners” was to give listeners a chance to taste and feel the atmosphere of the 1980s, blended with the here and now.
Trupa Trupa is a post-punk band from Gdańsk, known for their unique mixture of gloomy alternative rock and psychedelic inspirations. The musicians combine dark, introspective melodies with rich, experimental sound, thus creating their own space in the field of alternative guitar music. Their music has gained global recognition. This can be proven by the fact that a month before the onset of the tour, Emily Flake – a recognised illustrator working for The New Yorker – created four drawings presenting the band, their origins, and inspirations.
Trupa Trupa’s tour across the US is supported by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Adam Mickiewicz Institute and the City Gdańsk.
