The 55th edition of the prestigious Santarcangelo Festival, dedicated to contemporary performing arts in Europe, will take place in Santarcangelo di Romagna, Italy, from 4 to 13 July 2025. This year’s festival theme is “Not yet”. The Adam Mickiewicz Institute is collaborating with the Santarcangelo Festival for the third time.

“Not yet” - Santarcangelo Festival 2025

The 55th edition of the interdisciplinary Santarcangelo Festival will explore themes of fear, uncertainty, and the transitional moment captured in the phrase “not yet.” “Not yet” is a conscious celebration of dissent and resistance to closed historical and political narratives that seek to suppress alternative perspectives. Artists featured in the festival will often, in radical ways, question dominant narratives, established imagery, and the patterns that shape our social lives. The festival will invite audiences to consider the possibility of slowing down, taking a collective breath, and dreaming from a broad, international perspective – intertwining the artistic and political urgencies of our time, as experienced through the body, the voice, and critical thought.

For the fourth time, the festival will be curated by Tomasz Kireńczuk – a Polish playwright, critic, and curator. For ten days, the medieval town of Santarcangelo di Romagna (Rimini) will transform into a living “festival city”, with shows, installations, and performances animating its streets, courtyards, theatres, and unconventional spaces. The programme of the Santarcangelo Festival 2025 will be diverse in both form and content, dominated by interdisciplinary projects and activities spanning theatre, choreography, installation, and artistic intervention – all united by a focus on exploring the relationship between the performing arts and social change.
